Play Count ?

First off I am loving the progress.

This is very close to becoming my ideal player that does exactly what is needed and nothing more.

I see you have a rating system in the works, that would be awesome.

I was also hoping you coul implement some kind of play count, where it keeps track of how many times you play a song ?

Cheers though for how well it's progressing and to see what resonic pro will bring.

Re: Play Count ?

Hey :)

Read support for ratings is done already, and it's also very compatible. But I'm holding back the feature until rating writing is done as well, or people might wonder what's going on here.

Regarding rating reading, Resonic currently interprets these ratings: standard ID3v2, Windows 7/8 Explorer, Windows Media Player, iTunes, Media Monkey, foobar (written by component).

Existing play counts are also read already, but not yet written.

A user interface is like a joke: if you have to explain it, it's not that good.

Re: Play Count ?

Bump this.

Any chance play count can be added as a column option in the file list.

Would be awesome if this was an option.

Of course, but I'm still not sure how to combine play counts from ID3v2 tags and Resonic's own play counts and currently Resonic only reads the ID3v2 play counts, no writing, so what's the point of a column?

I'm really not a big fan of software that tends to alter my files without asking me, in fact I hate it when software does that. With Resonic I want to make sure nothing is altered unless the user wants it to, including writing play counts to ID3v2 tags which clashes with my ideas of a high-performance player. In general I prefer storing play counts in Resonic's database with the option to write them to files.

I think that's the general direction one should follow. foobar2000 uses the same, with an advanced option to write to files.
What I like is to have an Audioscrobbler that syncs the playcount (gets it from last.fm as well).

Re: Play Count ?

I dunno about the technicalities of doing it.

I just remember really liking having the ability to see what I have played the most in my main audio player.
How that is achieved, I have no idea. I just like the feature.

Re: Play Count ?

Is it possible to have ratings / play counts as an option? ( which can be disAbled )

I do not like the idea of ratings,
especially in regards to pro version of resonic, since it does not really apply
my personal opinion, though

Re: Play Count ?

You will be able to hide the Rating-column at least.
There are no playcount settings yet.
