No sound in Windows 10 [Resolved]

I have used Resonic Beta for years on Windows 7. I just upgraded to Windows 10 and I cannot get any sound from Resonic. All other sound sources work just fine: Groove Music, VLC, Video player, Quick Time Player, Windows Media Player. Only Resonic does not make any sound while playing audio files. The files appear to play normally in the waveform area of Resonic. I can click the Resonic speaker button and it goes red/black but no sound. I uninstalled and reinstalled Resonic, still no sound. Powered down and powered up PC, no Resonic sound.

And of all things, I had just made a donation to Liqube Audio before this happened !!

Hey Allen! This sounds strange.

- Are you on the latest version of Resonic?
- Which audio device and audio output system (WASAPI, ASIO, DS) are you using in Resonic?
- It would help if you posted (or emailed) screenshots of both your main window during playback and the settings window.

And thanks for the donation either way! A rare sight these days. If you feel otherwise now though I will return it to you.

Tom, thx for your help. No refund needed, I was donating for the years I used Resonic on Win7.
- I am using Resonic Player Beta ver 0.9.3
- Resonic is using "WASAPI - Realtek Digital Output" and I think I just found why there is no sound coming from Resonic!! In Win10 Sound I am using "Speakers PreSonus Firestudio Audio Default Device" for all audio output including all the other apps that DO produce sound. That Realtek is the PC sound card to which nothing is connected. I just changed the Resonic Sound Device to WASAPI - Speakers (PreSonus Firestudio Audio) and it now work just fine. Thanks for the push to a solution.
- My suggestion to prevent this from happening is to make sure on installation that Resonic chooses the Default Audio Device which was not chosen in my case.

Thanks, and good to hear it's working!

Resonic does select the default audio output device on first run, and as fallback when everything else fails. My guess is that an old preferences file still had the Realtek device set (uninstall/reinstall does not remove your preferences, and it identifies devices by name), hence you had to change the sound device manually.

I had a similar problem after installing an Audient iD4 audio interface and setting it as the default Windows output device.

Manually changing Preferences > Sound > Output Device to WASAPI - Speakers (Audient iD4) resolved the issue.

I wish I had found this thread sooner!
