MP3 Decoder [Solved]

Just to inform you that Resonic MP3 decoder output is sounding very dull. Resonic wav output is perfect.
I work in the Mastering domain and I have compared the MP3 output of Sound Forge, WinAmp and Windows Media Player and they all giving me the real sound of the MP3 except for Resonic. This is sounding like a major bug.
Thanks for looking at this for the next update.

Please don't assume major bugs right away, that doesn't help. I can assure you there's no bug in the mp3 decoder, which is internally running at 32 bit float. I've just done quite a few phase difference comparisons of raw decoded audio of the same file by re/wl/sf and didn't notice a difference big enough that it could dull down the sound. Note that the sf mp3 decoder usually introduces a delay at the beginning which has to be cut away sample-exact in case you do your own comparisons

Well I can hear the difference for all MP3 (Top 40) and this is a difference of about 5% in the quality.

I know that FL Studio use the Fraunhofer MP3 Codec for decoding MP3 and Lame for encoding MP3.
Do you use Fraunhofer MP3 decoder for Resonic ?

Please download the file attached to this post and unpack it into the Resonic installation folder, overwriting the existing .dll file (which should be smaller now), then tell me what you hear. This won't work on Windows versions older than Windows 7 though.

I am with Windows 8 and I have replaced the (bass.dll) and now the MP3 and WAV match sonically

The file disabled the internal MP3 decoder. Resonic then uses the operating system's MP3 codec, ie. the same one being used by WMP.

Please keep the file for a bit, I won't be including this in the next updates as it only works on Windows 7 and 8.

This file is now always included with Resonic, it's in the 'addons' folder.
Just copy it, overwriting the other one.

This improved the audio quality for me also, thanks for posting this here. (I didn't notice that it wasn't performing quite as good before because I upgraded almost all my hardware about the same time I switched to Resonic as my main music player)
