No bit depth and hz for some files?

Hey there,

for some of the Boom Library freebie sounds I saw that Resonic does not show a Hz or Bit depth (e.g. their Flamethrower freebies). Is this a bug? From what can it depend if not?

Has someone a similar problem?

I'll update if I recognize it on other files as well ... moreover I'll try to post / upload an example file, if I get it with a non-copyrighted file (one of mine for example).

Best,
Manu

Which files (type, specs) exactly?

E.g. the file "Flamethrower Multi Long.wav"

According to VLC media player:
Codec: PCM S24 LE (s24l)
Chanels: 2 / Stereo
Rate: 96 kHz
Bit: 32

According to Windows properties:
Bitrate: 4608 kBit/s

But "DTCK EXPLOSION Fuel.wav" from the free destruction series has the same properties, while they are shown correctly though. Except they have tags in the description, the Flamethrower files don't have any tags.

.... well, forget about it. I now nearly know that it's about damaged tagging or similar. I just tested to tag one of the lamethrower files on my own and suddenly Resonic could tell me the hz and bits. After resaving the tags with Mp3Tag it even could read all the tags ... so there were some tags saved after all.

So probably bad tagging from Boom Library on these files?

I would like to have a look at it to exclude a potential bug. Please zip/rar it up (ideally a couple files, not just one) and send it to me, e.g. via https://wetransfer.com/ or similar, or private messenging, or email (if the files are not too big)

I've identified this as a broken file header issue, not a bug, and extended the Resonic meta core to attempt to detect and auto-correct broken RIFF WAVE headers in order to continue to read metadata. This will be part of the 0.9 release!

Seeing how strong the meta core is it only makes sense to expose some of its reporting features, so future versions of Resonic will begin reporting metadata quality, which allows you to spot broken files or malformed content (metadata) easily in the file list :)
