This is the Alpha 999 release candidate.

Please re-read the Alpha 999 part of whatsnew.txt -
I've added lots of usability updates and re-ordered many of the changelog items.

Continuation of: http://forums.resonic.at/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=151

Thanks!

Now I have the slow closing problem (on my PC at work) discussed in the previous thread. Something I noticed in the Windows Resource Monitor is that Resonic writes a db-journal file on several different threads, even after the application window is disappeared for a few seconds.

I also experienced the slow shutdown (approx +2 sec.) yesterday, but only when I started vanilla builds without database files. My default installation (with large database files) doesn't behave this way.

Will look into this later today!

Slow shutdown problem hasn't been solved for me, too.
Experiencing it since day one..

Please concentrate on testing the actual build, the shutdown delay I'm more than aware of already.

Made another special build for the slow shutdown issue:

Whoever happens to experience this issue please run this version and, right after a slow shutdown has occured, post the newly created ProfileRelease.log file.

This will greatly help in finding the cause, because I cannot seem to reproduce it on any of my systems.

The more different logs the better.

Noticed that navigating with the arrow keys results in a different focus behaviour than navigating with the mouse (light blue). Is this intentional?

Log with after slow-shutdown also attatched.

And I'm really liking the light gray which is highlighting the "active" list-column.

Refined the logging and updated the build. Could you please re-download the new zip and post another log?

This behavior is somewhat different from classic Windows, but fully intended. The arrow keys control the selection which can be different than the active file (playing, paused, stopped). This might need a little bit of getting used to at first, but will make a lot of sense with features like locked selections and such (imagine using the arrow keys without losing the selection).

:)

Interesting... I can't reproduce the issue with this Profile build :D

The joys of coding ;)

Here's another build without logging but with some essential changes. I really hope this one doesn't block on exit. Kinda groping in the dark here.

No delay, works like a charm.

Slow shutdown again for me... :(

I can only forge ahead with new builds, so here's another one. This is a baffling issue, but I suspect the database engine might be causing this.

Can't reproduce at work (Windows 7 Enterprise x64), will try later at home (then you'll know if you fixed it or not, for real. :D)
Unfortunately mrfox seems to still have the issue.

A little theory here... My disk at home is not on SSD.
I made a test on my SSD as well, it's much faster but you can notice a delay.

Edit: Still same delay at home.

Seems it's reading/writing config-2.db & config-2.db-journal a lot during exit.

Definitely an issue with excessive writes. It's not even noticeable on an SSD (since they can handle more simultaneous writes than a HDD).

Yes, and it's good to minimize unnecessary writes to SSD as well.

any chance Tom of a "Rename" option when you right-click on a file? so once I have played/auditioned the crap-sounding kick I can rename it from "AWSOME MAGAZINE COVER CD KICK.WAV" to "crap kick 1.wav" ?

would be immensely handy...

Kind Regards,
Blackout

Yes, Blackout, I'm working that, but this is the private beta testing forum, please stay on topic. There is a public suggestions forum for ideas.
