Yeah, I figured. To be honest I was meaning to remove the expiration code, but forgot about it.

I'll upload a new build tomorrow.

Also, it's missing a "no" in "can longer be started".
But let's hope we'll never need it anymore, instead. :D

It can be the font I'm using that's clipping. You're not really supposed to change fonts in Windows anymore. :?

No 'no' here either... Default Windows 7 fonts.

Re: So here's what I am currently working on

Been working hard on the Beta installer for the last days. A big move for the project, while being some of the worst tech I've been working with so far ;)

For short the NSIS install system used in the Alpha is ditched in favor of MSI packages (Windows Installer), which is overall the more professional way to go. It supports automatic upgrades of existing installations and can be digitally signed.

This includes Explorer integration + icons, which is all new.
It'll roughly look like this and if anyone's up to test it early hit me up on Skype: liqube

Not half bad... Would be nice if it could be run with a 'quick install' button that just choses all the defaults, and skips all the prompts from the very start.

Here's a screenshot of the todo list for the upcoming Beta release

Means we'll have the release candidate (RC) ready really soon, within the next 1-2 days.
Get ready for the final test run.

So that it returns to the first file in the list after it finishes playing the last file... Helps prevent the necessity of alt-tabbing out of full screen programs (some of which don't react well to doing so) just to keep the music going.

I've been talking to many of you in private. A few of you wanted to know how big the todo/idea list for Resonic currently is, and whether I'm really collecting suggestions (or, probably, if I'm just pretending to do so.)

Well, here's a screenshot. That's individual entries, yes, not including the ones already processed/fixed/implemented. About half of them have additional text.

Just a thought, it might reduce the number of requests for something that's on the list if the full list was published somewhere... At the very least, it'd be an interesting read. :)

Just a quick update update:
working all over the place now and on various features, but mostly focusing on the Pro version.

What's coming to the first Pro versions is mouse selections, audio extraction, realtime frequency shifting, and likely markers.

Re: So here's what I am currently working on

Sounds cool. I'm sorry to be a pain as i've asked this before, but is any sort of playlist / shuffle feature in the works for any upcoming pre-release?

This feature alone along with Resonic beta in its current official version would keep me going for a long time and negate the need for other media players on my pc.

Really i just want a way to random play music files from a set of different added folders. Add recursively sort of allows this but with obvious limitations e..g have to add the entire music root folder.

Re: So here's what I am currently working on

Okay, I really don't want to let you guys hanging, so here's a quick update on what's happening:

We're still fully concentrating on Resonic Pro, hence no need for testing lately. There are some new features and fixes that found its way into the latest builds, so there'll be an 0.6.3b release tomorrow.

The permanent 'Beta' label will vanish soon, probably with 0.6.5. From then on there'll be individual Beta versions which equal the "test builds" you got here in the past.

The (Player) Beta forum will be become a public, moderated forum, which opens it up to a much wider audience. Only users registered on the board will be able to download Beta versions.

The first few Pro Beta previews will be handed out to a hand-full of users - as a start - later this week. There will be new Pro videos, posted to the FB page, and to the site.

Thanks for hanging around :) I appreciate you being here.

kind regards

Re: So here's what I am currently working on

Still working on the pro version Tom or did it get canned?

I know these things take time, had a lot of "coming soons" at one point, so built up a bit of an expectation with a few people, wouldn't like to recommend something to any more people that might not materialise, although bloody good - most people I know would only have interest in the pro.

Asking too as my old test build became obsolete & expired, then a good function I used quite a bit (experimental feature to select the time to advance to next sample/track) was taken out of the released version of the player so lost interest as didn't really do what I needed it to do.

Re: So here's what I am currently working on

Definitely not canned. There have been some non-technical road blocks lately, so progress has been a bit slow.
Tom is out of the country right now and probably won't be able to reply here for the next two weeks.
We're hoping to get a Pro release out the door as soon as he gets back.

Thanks for the reply Martin

Definitely a good thing to hear, I have high hopes as we spoke in depth about it previously & seemed like a dream, I have so much going on sometimes it's hard to check up on these things, you know how it is when you keep hearing "soon"

hope the other roadblocks have not been too severe. I do understand what an undertaking this has been & hope it all pays off in the end.

Nice, just seen that

Please tell me that the experimental feature that was in this previous builds will make a come back

You know like set the delay until playing the next sample in the list when you have it on autoplay

That was so good, it actually set the program apart from everything else I've used

Find myself not using reaonic now it has gone as my older builds have become obsolete & it was removed from the public release :(

Re: So here's what I am currently working on

Ta, was such a great feature I'd never seen anywhere else, essential once I used it, was great for thinning out hours of recorded work & shorter sounds from sample libraries, gave to time to think before deleting etc.

Was hoping that the test builds wouldn't have time expired as it was really helping me work a LOT quicker, it's what originally got me here (a post in the forum promised it & it was in the beta tests, so of course was interested in testing too) in fact I'd give good money now to have it back working, was mentioned it would be in the pro version, so is a killer waiting for that.

Almost considering trying to reverse engineer the old test build to get it back

Really good to know, & I'm hoping all your hard work pays off

Hope all is well

Actually started firing up the player version again as the browser is so amazing, dunno if I'm just remembering this differently but I'm sure there used to be a rename option in there but can't find how to rename anything from within reaonic now, also a move to (directory) on right click, or am I imagining things again.

As I say, waiting with open wallet :)

Re: So here's what I am currently working on

The ability to rename stuff is such a basic need I've put down resonic for ages, even the pro version & started using foobar2000 which is much more powerful for managing samples.

Shame, as resonic looked quite promising at one point.
