Currently it snaps to all kinds of markers, cues, and transients (if available in acid wav, apple loops, etc.) though, which makes loop selections easy.
Zero-crossings are of course something very obvious to think about for a later release. In general, the whole topic of detailed selections is.

Zero-Crossings would be especially helpful when creating a new file from the selection as you described in another thread.
